President Bola Tinubu has approved an emergency intervention fund of N10 billion to strengthen Nigeria’s response to the Ebola outbreak, as authorities intensify efforts to contain the disease and prevent its spread.

The emergency funding is expected to bolster surveillance, enhance laboratory testing, improve case management, support public awareness campaigns and reinforce infection prevention measures across the country.

The intervention underscores the federal government’s commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring that frontline health institutions are equipped to respond swiftly and effectively to the evolving situation.

Health authorities are expected to deploy the funds to critical areas of the national Ebola response, including emergency preparedness, rapid response teams, contact tracing and the procurement of essential medical supplies.

The approval comes amid heightened concerns over the potential public health impact of the outbreak, with officials urging Nigerians to remain vigilant, adhere to health advisories and report suspected cases promptly.

The government says it will continue working with relevant health agencies and international partners to contain the outbreak and protect lives.
