President Bola Tinubu has expressed delight in his ongoing stay in France, telling French President Emmanuel Macron that he is “enjoying” his time in the country.

Tinubu, who departed Nigeria on 4 September for what was described as a working vacation, met with Macron during his visit. In a video shared by his media aide, Dada Olusegun, Macron is seen asking the Nigerian leader, “Are you enjoying your time in France?” Tinubu responded with a smile, saying, “Oh yes.”

Olusegun, who posted the clip on X, captioned it: “President Tinubu’s working visit to President Macron of France, where matters of mutual interest were discussed.”

However, Tinubu’s trip has drawn criticism back home. Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, questioned the President’s frequent foreign travels at a time when Nigeria is grappling with worsening insecurity and economic hardship.

“It does look like Mr President is running away from Nigeria at every slight opportunity,” Obi said in a 5 September statement. “One would wonder why so much of his two years in office has been spent on holidays or away from the very country he was elected to preside over.”
