President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for the teaching of stock market trading and financial literacy in Nigerian universities, saying such knowledge could help build a more prosperous nation.
The President said exposing undergraduates to the workings of the stock market would equip young Nigerians with the skills needed to understand investment, create wealth and participate more actively in the economy.
“If we can teach stock market trading in the classroom to our undergraduates, we can build a nation filled with prosperity,” President Tinubu said.
He stressed the importance of giving young people practical financial knowledge alongside conventional academic education, arguing that a generation equipped with investment and wealth-creation skills would be better positioned to contribute to Nigeria’s economic development.
The President’s remarks highlight the need for greater financial education among young Nigerians, particularly as the country seeks to deepen participation in its capital market and encourage a stronger culture of savings and investment.
He said empowering students with the right financial tools and knowledge could help them make informed investment decisions and contribute to building a more financially secure society.
