President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a firm directive to Nigeria’s service chiefs and intelligence heads, demanding improved performance and more effective strategies in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other escalating security threats across the country.

At a high-level security session held at the State House in Abuja, the President urged the nation’s top security officials to strengthen inter-agency cooperation, cut bureaucratic delays, and accelerate the execution of operational plans in all theatres of engagement. His charge reflects the administration’s intensified efforts to stabilise volatile regions and ensure a peaceful atmosphere ahead of the festive season.

Those present at the briefing included National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Wahidi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Kelvin Aneke; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lieutenant-General Emmanuel Undiadeye; Director-General of the Department of State Services, Oluwatosin Ajayi; and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, General Oluyede described the engagement as “highly interactive,” assuring Nigerians that tangible improvements in security would become evident in the coming weeks. He added that the armed forces and intelligence community remain fully committed to delivering a safer and more stable environment, particularly as the yuletide approaches.

The session forms part of President Tinubu’s ongoing series of strategic consultations, following his recent declaration of a national security emergency aimed at confronting and reversing the surge in threats nationwide.
