Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has officially launched the rehabilitation of the Sharram–Garram–Babban Lamba Road in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State, marking another step in his administration’s drive to improve infrastructure and rural connectivity.

Representing the president at the flag-off ceremony, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the road project as a strategic intervention aimed at opening up communities, boosting economic activities and improving access to essential services across the area.

Yilwatda said the rehabilitation reflects the Tinubu administration’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that directly impacts the lives of ordinary Nigerians, particularly in underserved rural communities. He noted that the project is expected to ease transportation, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce and stimulate socio-economic development in Kanke and neighbouring communities.

Residents and stakeholders welcomed the commencement of the project, expressing optimism that the long-awaited road rehabilitation would reduce travel time, improve safety and unlock new economic opportunities for farmers, traders and businesses in the region.

The Sharram–Garram–Babban Lamba Road has for years been a major concern for residents due to its poor condition, with many hoping that its reconstruction will significantly improve connectivity and support broader development efforts in Plateau State.
