Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has appointed Adeyinka A. Fadewa as Special Adviser on Homeland Security, in a move seen as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s internal security architecture.

The appointment of the retired Major General comes amid mounting security concerns across several parts of the country, including banditry, insurgency and communal violence.

Fadewa, a retired senior military officer with years of operational and strategic experience, is expected to advise the presidency on domestic security coordination and response strategies.

The presidency has yet to release further details on the scope of his mandate, but analysts say the appointment underscores the administration’s increasing reliance on experienced military figures to confront Nigeria’s complex security challenges.

The latest development adds to a series of recent appointments by the Tinubu administration aimed at reshaping key areas of governance and national security.
