President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has disclosed that four new attack helicopters are scheduled to arrive in the country shortly, marking a significant boost to Nigeria’s security capabilities. He also reaffirmed that the long-debated establishment of community and state police formations is becoming an achievable reality.

The President made the remarks while addressing stakeholders on the nation’s security priorities, noting that improved air power and decentralised policing are essential to tackling emerging threats across the country.

According to Tinubu, the incoming helicopters will strengthen security operations, enhance rapid response, and improve support for ground troops engaged in internal security missions.

He added that the Federal Government is in advanced discussions with relevant bodies to finalise frameworks for community and state policing—an approach he believes will deepen grassroots security and improve intelligence gathering.

Tinubu emphasised that Nigeria must embrace modern security solutions that combine technology, local engagement, and stronger enforcement structures.

Further details on deployment plans for the helicopters and timelines for the rollout of community and state policing are expected to be provided by the relevant security agencies in due course.
