Tension in Osun as Armed Assailants Shoot Accord Party Chairman

The chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, Asimiyu Ajibola, is receiving medical treatment after being shot by unidentified gunmen in the state capital, Osogbo, authorities said.

The attack occurred on Wednesday, with Ajibola subsequently rushed to the University of Osun Teaching Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Osun State Police Command spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi confirmed the incident and announced that a full-scale investigation had been launched to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Police said detectives have commenced comprehensive inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, while assuring residents that every effort is being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities have yet to disclose further details as investigations continue.
