Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho has appealed to Nigeria’s Federal Government to lift his ‘wanted’ status, insisting he is no criminal and offering to combat rising insecurity in the Southwest.
Speaking at the palace of the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, on 22 July 2025, Igboho decried restrictions on his movement, including frozen bank accounts and a denied passport application in Germany.
“I cannot live freely in my homeland,” Igboho said, urging authorities to clear his name so he can support efforts against armed herdsmen and bandits.
The Olugbon endorsed Igboho, vowing to petition President Bola Tinubu and Southwest governors within 48 hours to pardon him and leverage his influence for regional security.
Igboho’s plea reignites debate over his role as a polarising figure, with the military open to collaboration provided it aligns with constitutional norms. As Southwest insecurity escalates, all eyes are on the FG’s response.
