Sen. Ishaku Abbo of Adamawa State has officially announced his defection from ADC to the Labour Party (LP), citing unresolved leadership crises within the ADC at both national and state levels.
In his statement, Abbo referenced the Federal High Court judgment which nullified ADC state congresses, as well as the Supreme Court ruling which reportedly returned the party’s leadership dispute back to the Federal High Court for final determination, leaving members in what he described as “uncertainty.”
Declaring himself the national leader of the SIA Movement, Abbo said he joined the Labour Party alongside his supporters in order to pursue political aspirations ahead of the 2027 elections.
He urged critics to forgive him, stressing that his exit was not out of hatred but out of the need to protect the political dreams of his followers. He also stated that while he has forgiven those who allegedly worked against him during his time in ADC, he “will always remember their names.”
Abbo further expressed gratitude to the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for their support and encouragement.
He announced that he would soon unveil the presidential candidate he intends to support in 2027, in consultation with the Labour Party.
The former senator also called on his supporters and intending aspirants to immediately register as LP members, citing provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 which he claimed mandates party membership before 10/05/2026.
Concluding with a strong political message, Abbo vowed that a “secured, industrialized and prosperous Adamawa State” is possible under the SIA Movement, adding a faith based declaration that he is destined to become governor.
