In a landmark celebration of cultural heritage and leadership, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi and his wife, Erelu Olajumoke Fadeyi, were formally installed as “Ajagunnla Oodua Ti Ilẹ Yorùbá” and “Yeye Ajagunnla of the Source” by His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife.

The ceremony, held as part of the Ooni’s 10th coronation anniversary festivities, brought together a distinguished gathering of national leaders, traditional rulers, and cultural icons, underscoring the significance of the occasion.

The event drew an array of prominent figures, including the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who was honored as “Yeye Oodua of the Source.” Also in attendance were senators, business leaders, traditional rulers, and members of the global Yoruba community, reflecting the broad respect for Senator Fadeyi’s contributions to cultural and national unity.

Royal Solidarity from Igbomina

A notable feature of the ceremony was the presence of key custodians of Igbomina heritage, led by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Wahab Oyedotun, Bibiire I, the Orangun of Ila. He was accompanied by His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, the Orangun of Oke-Ila, and other first-class rulers from the Igbomina region in Kwara State. Their participation highlighted the deep historical ties of the title “Ajagunnla,” which traces back to the legacy of Orangun Fagbamila Ajagunnla.

Senator Fade of Ila-Orangun—the traditional seat of the Igbomina Kingdom—embodies both ancestral heritage and contemporary leadership. His new role as Ajagunnla Oodua recognizes his efforts in fostering development, cultural preservation, and unity within Yorubaland and beyond.

A reception held at Obafemi Awolowo University’s Sports Centre offered continuous hospitality, with food and drinks served from Saturday afternoon until Sunday morning, creating an atmosphere of abundance and joy.
