The Social Democratic Party (SDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has dissolved the Imo State Working Committee amid reported internal challenges and appointed a 17-member caretaker committee to steer the party’s affairs for the next 90 days.

A letter from the party’s National Secretary, Dr. Olu Agunloye, cited “reports on the activities within the Imo State chapter” as the reason for the dissolution, stressing adherence to the party’s 2022 amended constitution.

Augustine Okere has been named acting state chairman of the new caretaker committee, joined by Onyekachi Asonye as acting secretary, Raymond Egenti as deputy chairman, and other key members including Chijioke Onuoha and Hon. Tony Duru.

The committee’s mandate is clear: “To reorganise the party’s operations in line with NWC guidelines, recruit fresh members especially youths and women, ensure regular meetings and events, boost party prospects ahead of elections, and provide monthly activity reports to the National Vice Chairman (SE) and National Chairman.”
