The chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Benue State, Alhaji Risku Muhammad, has been shot dead alongside his associate, Yakubu Isah, in a suspected targeted attack shortly after attending a peace meeting in Ohinmini Local Government Area.
The two men were reportedly ambushed by unidentified gunmen as they departed the meeting on Saturday. Both died at the scene.
The killings have heightened concerns over the fragile security situation in Benue State, where recurring violence involving armed groups and communal tensions has continued to claim lives despite ongoing peace efforts.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the attack, while security agencies are expected to launch an investigation to identify those responsible.
