Saudi Arabia has agreed to grant the United States access to the King Fahd Air Base in the western city of Taif, signalling a significant shift in regional dynamics as tensions with Iran escalate.

According to Middle East Eye, the move would allow American forces to utilise the strategic facility as part of potential military operations targeting Iran.

Officials from the US and Western governments told the publication that Riyadh’s posture has hardened in recent months, with Saudi Arabia increasingly aligning with both the United States and Israel. The shift is reportedly driven by a desire to counter and deter Iranian actions following alleged strikes linked to Tehran against the Kingdom.

The development underscores deepening geopolitical fault lines in the Middle East, raising concerns over the risk of broader regional escalation.
