Residents and businesses in parts of the Federal Capital Territory and Niger State are expected to experience a temporary power outage on Saturday, following a planned maintenance exercise by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
TCN said the interruption, scheduled for 26 September 2026, would last for about 20 minutes and affect customers in Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and surrounding areas.
According to the transmission company, the maintenance will take place between 1:00pm and 4:00pm as part of its annual preventive maintenance programme.
The exercise involves maintenance of the Gwarinpa–Suleja 132/33kV Line 2 bay switchgear and associated equipment.
TCN said the brief outage is necessary to enable engineers to safely transfer the electricity load from Gwarinpa–Suleja Line 2 to Kubwa–Suleja Line 1, allowing the maintenance work to be carried out without a prolonged interruption.
The company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected communities for the inconvenience, assuring them that the exercise was aimed at improving the reliability of the transmission network.
The affected areas are supplied by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC). (Punch Newspapers)
