The government of Ghana has commended Nigerian authorities, particularly the Department of State Services (DSS), for the successful rescue of 44 Ghanaian nationals in a coordinated security operation.
In a statement released on Sunday, Ghanaian officials praised the swift intervention and professionalism of Nigerian operatives, describing the mission as a “testament to strong regional cooperation and commitment to citizen safety.”
Authorities in Nigeria confirmed that the individuals were freed following intelligence-led efforts, although details surrounding the circumstances of their captivity remain limited.
The Ghanaian government further emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration between West African nations in tackling cross-border security threats, including human trafficking and organised crime.
Officials say arrangements are underway to ensure the safe return of the rescued citizens, as diplomatic channels between Accra and Abuja continue to strengthen ties in security and humanitarian response.
