••••Shamsudeen Bala accuses PDP of abandoning loyalists, insists his father won’t be another victim in 2027 fallout.

“Don’t let history repeat itself!” Shamsudeen Bala, the eldest son of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, has issued a stern warning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urging them to avoid making his father a scapegoat in the aftermath of the 2027 presidential election. His comments come amidst growing tensions within the party over strategies for the upcoming polls, notably the PDP Governors’ Forum’s rejection of a coalition with other opposition parties, a move perceived as a direct challenge to Atiku Abubakar’s preferred approach.
In a fiery post on X, Engr. Bala highlighted his father’s pivotal role in securing Bauchi for the PDP in the 2023 presidential election, a feat achieved for the first time since 2003, when the state became a stronghold of Muhammadu Buhari. He emphasized that this victory, which defied predictions and surpassed even Atiku’s home state of Adamawa, was the result of “strategic mobilisation, unyielding resolve, and grassroots loyalty.”
“Bauchi didn’t flip itself,” he asserted. “It took my father’s political tact, unwavering loyalty, and sheer strength of character to achieve this feat.”
He cautioned the PDP against repeating the perceived injustice of 2023, where former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike was seen as a scapegoat despite his contributions. He stressed the need for the party to appreciate and reconcile with loyalists like his father, rather than waiting until the eve of the 2027 election. “The time for gratitude and unity is now,” he declared. “If the PDP waits until 2027 to acknowledge my father’s efforts, it may already be too late.”
Engr. Bala’s intervention has ignited a fresh round of debate within the PDP, raising critical questions about the party’s direction and its ability to unite ahead of the crucial 2027 elections.
