The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) has publicly reaffirmed its commitment to holding the party’s national convention on November 15, 2025, as resolved by the National Executive Committee in July. The forum also called on party members to stand firm against any efforts by “anti-party forces” aiming to disrupt the process.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, spoke following their seventh meeting of the year held at the Government House in Gusau, Zamfara State. He stated, “We urge members and supporters of our great party to hold fast to the vision and principles of the PDP despite the intimidation and anti-democratic tactics from the APC-led Federal Government.”

The governors highlighted their concern over Nigeria’s worsening security challenges and the erosion of democratic values. They commended Zamfara State’s government for its progress in tackling insecurity but condemned the persistent violence in Katsina, Plateau, Niger, and Benue states, calling on the federal authorities to protect lives and property.

The forum acknowledged the resilience of PDP leaders and grassroots supporters who have resisted orchestrated defections and intimidation, emphasising that these challenges will not diminish the party’s appeal or the public’s growing yearning for improved governance. “The desperation of the APC government without agenda or vision will only lead to inevitable rejection at the polls,” Governor Mohammed warned.

The communiqué encouraged Nigerians to remain vigilant in protecting their votes, especially in light of reports of over-militarisation, vote-buying, and violence during recent bye-elections. The forum reaffirmed its mission to restore Nigeria’s democracy and development, describing the PDP as the viable alternative to the current government’s divisive leadership.

Present at the strategic meeting alongside Governors Bala Mohammed and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara were Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), and Ademola Adeleke (Osun).
