The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has indefinitely postponed the launch of its online portal for the 2025 recruitment exercise, leaving thousands of shortlisted candidates in limbo.

The portal was originally slated to open from Monday, December 1, to Wednesday, December 3, for physical screening and document verification following last month’s computer-based tests.

In a late-night statement on Monday, Board Secretary, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) A.M. Jibril, announced the shift, promising it would reopen “as soon as possible” without providing a new timeline.

Shortlisted applicants have been directed to frequently visit the official recruitment site, recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng, for updates, with further details to follow on social media channels.

“The CDCFIB apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the interest of applicants in the recruitment exercise,” the statement read.

This phase is crucial, as it involves thorough checks on candidates’ identities, documents, and physical fitness before advancing to final selection for positions in the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The delay has sparked frustration among applicants, many of whom prepared documents and travel arrangements based on the initial schedule. The recruitment drive, aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s paramilitary workforce, drew massive applications earlier in the year amid high youth unemployment.
