Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday hosted all 36 state chairmen of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) plus the Federal Capital Territory at his Abuja residence, urging immediate mass registration to build a strong opposition front ahead of 2027.
The meeting, led by Kogi State ADC Chairman Ogga Kingsley, was to formally welcome Atiku after he collected his membership card in Jada 1 Ward, Adamawa State.
In a post on his verified X handle on Tuesday, Atiku quoted Kingsley as expressing delight that the former PDP presidential candidate is now a “bona fide member” of the party.
Atiku told the gathering there is no room for fence-sitting in the rescue mission for Nigeria.
“I am indeed pleased to see that leaders of the party at the state level are thinking with the future of our country in mind. Together, we are committed to our resolve to work towards a secure, united, and prosperous Nigeria,” he said.
He added: “The APC is bent on wrecking our country, and we are ready to stop them from doing so.”
The former vice president directed coalition partners to complete their ADC registration without delay and commended state leaders for showing commitment to national renewal.
Atiku formally left the PDP in July 2025, citing irreconcilable internal crises. He declared upon joining ADC that “the real opposition has begun” and called on supporters nationwide to enrol immediately.
