Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has dismissed concerns over his missed chances against Gabon, insisting that pressure has never affected his confidence or finishing ability.

A video shared on Thursday by sports journalist @iamcalisports captured the forward speaking openly about mistakes, expectations and his response to criticism after Nigeria’s 4-1 extra-time win.

Osimhen said his approach to the game has always been to move on quickly, no matter the situation. “Sometimes I score the goal nobody expects, sometimes I miss the one everybody thinks I should bury,” he said. “It doesn’t change anything about my mentality.”

The Galatasaray striker, who squandered two clear chances before extra time, explained that he immediately apologised to teammates and promised to make up for the misses. He eventually delivered two goals that sealed Nigeria’s victory.

“At first, I told them I’m sorry. I also told them I would correct it in extra time. I’m glad I kept my word,” he added.

Osimhen credited his teammates for staying behind him when the game became tense. “Kudos to the guys who gave me the assist for the two goals. I like the mentality of the whole team,” he said.

He also sent appreciation to fans around the world, saying their support remains a major motivation. “Thank you to Super Eagles fans everywhere. They have been with us through everything. This win is also for them,” he said.

Looking ahead to the next stage of the competition, Osimhen admitted the challenge will be tougher but vowed that the team is ready. “The next round won’t be easy. We will give everything to get to the final,” he stated.

Nigeria defeated Gabon 4-1 at Stade Mohammed V, Rabat, after Akor Adams opened scoring, Gabon equalised late in the second half and Chidera Ejuke restored Nigeria’s lead before Osimhen’s brace ended the contest.
