The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed any possibility of Peter Obi rejoining the Peoples Democratic Party, saying the move would be politically suicidal.

Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesperson for the ADC and former Minister of Youth and Sports, said on Arise Television’s Prime Time that Obi remains firmly in the coalition of opposition parties led by the ADC.

He said, “Let me say clearly, Peter Obi is in the coalition. Regardless of what anybody is saying.”

Abdullahi, who was once a senior member of the PDP, dismissed talks that the party was trying to lure the former Anambra State governor back into its fold.

According to him, “It is good to see that it has taken the coming on board of the ADC to get the PDP to begin to make some movements. But everyone knows the jugular of the PDP is in the hands of the ruling party. Peter Obi, more than anyone else, knows that he cannot take the risk of going to the PDP.”

His statement follows growing speculation that key figures in the PDP were reaching out to Obi in a bid to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, Professor Jerry Gana, former Minister of Information and a founding member of the PDP, has described Obi as a “symbol of hope” and a critical voice for national renewal.

Speaking in a recent interview on Africa Independent Television, Gana said, “Peter Obi is one of the finest leaders in this country. He is disciplined, prudent, and deeply committed to the Nigerian project.”

He added, “He is a key voice for the future of democracy in this country, and we need people like him at the forefront of a united opposition.”

Gana also stressed the need for credible opposition figures to form a coalition, warning that no single party could unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2027 without strategic collaboration.
