prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has made a passionate plea for Northern leaders to throw their weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign for 2027. Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, the former APC Presidential Campaign Council member hailed Tinubu as a steadfast ally of the North, consistently championing their political interests.
“President Tinubu has always been a friend to the North, standing by their cause. It’s only right they return the favour by supporting his second term,” Oyintiloye declared.
However, he raised alarm over a small but vocal Northern faction allegedly plotting to derail Tinubu’s re-election. “History shows Southern presidents often face resistance from a handful of Northern elites. But Tinubu has earned the backing of the North’s major power blocs through his efforts,” he argued.
Urging Southern elders to rally behind Tinubu, Oyintiloye stressed the need to counter any schemes to undermine the president’s bid. “This isn’t just about Tinubu—it’s about fairness for the South and stability for Nigeria,” he said, calling for early mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oyintiloye warned that while Northern support is vital, withholding it would be a misstep. A successful re-election, he added, would not only strengthen national unity but also ensure equity for Southern regions.
