Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan-designate, has promised not to delay the filling of any vacant position in the Ibadan traditional leadership structure.
He made this known on Monday while receiving the Asipa Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, at his Lagos residence. The meeting was confirmed in a statement by his spokesman, Adeola Oloko.
“I wasn’t in Ibadan when Oba Owolabi Olakulehin passed on, but I received the news with great sadness,” Ladoja said. “Kabiyesi Olakulehin lived an impactful life and gave a good account of himself.”
Ladoja assured that succession issues would be handled promptly. “There would be no delay in filling every pending vacancy in the Olubadan chieftaincy line,” he stated.
Oba Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, died on Monday, 7 July 2025, just days before what would have been his first coronation anniversary. He was 90 years old.
Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, is next in line to ascend the throne according to the city’s rotational chieftaincy system.
