Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, stating that subnational governments are now reaping the benefits of the policies through increased revenue and grassroots development.

Mohammed spoke on Monday when he received a high-level federal delegation at the Government House, Bauchi. The delegation included the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun (represented by Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform), and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate.

The Governor noted that the Federal Government’s reforms have significantly bolstered the financial capacity of states, paving the way for improved infrastructure and better service delivery.

“We are proud of this partnership. As subnationals, we look forward to the Federal Government bringing initiatives that benefit our people. We do not criticize for the sake of it; when we see progress, we acknowledge it,” Mohammed said. “The President has performed well in several areas, particularly in finance, as states are now receiving more resources.”

**Security Gains**
Governor Mohammed also expressed gratitude for the President’s swift response to security challenges in Bauchi. He specifically cited the establishment of two new military battalions in Alkaleri and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas as a turning point for the state.

“The people of Bauchi are very proud of the President. When we were nearly overrun by bandits and no one was coming to our aid, I reached out to him and he responded immediately,” the Governor said. “He dispatched a high-powered military contingent led by the National Security Adviser and the service chiefs. Their intervention restored peace and allowed displaced residents to return to their homes.”

**Healthcare Expansion**
The visit also coincided with the commissioning of major health projects under the Federal Government’s health sector expansion programme.

Prof. Ali Pate explained that the delegation was in the state to inaugurate a world-class radiodiagnostic centre at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH). He noted that the facility is part of a broader national rollout of 10 such centres designed to modernize Nigeria’s diagnostic capabilities.

“This represents the largest expansion of health infrastructure and equipment in Nigeria’s history. Beyond these 10 centres, more world-class facilities are on the way,” Pate said. He added that the projects reflect the Tinubu administration’s commitment to improving healthcare through modern technology, research, and training.

**Economic Alignment**
On his part, Taiwo Oyedele, who represented the Finance Minister, described the new health infrastructure as a direct dividend of the ongoing national economic restructuring.

He emphasized that the reforms—aimed at stabilizing the macroeconomy and restoring investor confidence—are designed to make such development projects possible and repeatable across all 36 states.

“None of this happens without willing partners at the state level. The Governor’s engagement on these projects, from security to human capital, is exactly the kind of federal-state alignment we need to drive national growth,” Oyedele said.
