Former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has confirmed that he will face additional rounds of questioning from Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Malami, who served under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, reportedly disclosed that he still has “further appointments” with the EFCC as part of ongoing investigations into activities that took place during his tenure. He did not specify the nature of the inquiries or the allegations being examined.

Speaking to journalists, the former AGF said he remains available to assist investigators.

“I have further appointments with the EFCC, and I will continue to honour them,” he noted, adding that he supports any lawful process aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability in public office.

The EFCC has not publicly released details of Malami’s case. Nigeria’s anti-corruption watchdog has, however, intensified probes involving several former senior government officials since the end of the Buhari administration.

Malami, a powerful figure in Buhari’s cabinet from 2015 to 2023, has faced public scrutiny over multiple controversies during and after his time in office. He has consistently denied wrongdoing.

As investigations continue, the case is expected to draw significant national attention, given Malami’s central role in shaping Nigeria’s justice system for eight years.
