A 40-year-old Nigerian father of two, Olatunde Olaleye, has been shot dead while working at a bar in Pretoria, South Africa.
The Nigerian Union in South Africa (NUSA) said Olaleye, an indigene of Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, was killed on September 21 at Spanata Bar and Grills in Mamelodi, Pretoria.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the union confirmed the incident, although details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately disclosed.
Olaleye’s death adds to concerns over the safety of Nigerians living and working in South Africa, where the Nigerian community has previously raised concerns over violent attacks and other security challenges.
The circumstances leading to the shooting, including whether any arrests have been made, remain unclear.
