Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has opened up about the personal challenges of governing, saying the life of a state leader is far from the glamour often associated with official convoys and police escorts.

Speaking in a recent interview, Governor Radda addressed public perceptions that seeing a governor travel in a security-protected convoy suggests a life of luxury. He described the reality as markedly different.

“When people see you moving in a convoy with police escorts, they think you’re enjoying life as a governor. But we are really suffering. There is nothing enjoyable about being a governor,” Radda said, shedding light on the pressures and responsibilities that accompany his office.

The governor highlighted the heavy burdens of governance, including managing security challenges, public expectations, and administrative demands, which he said often go unnoticed by the general public.

Radda’s candid remarks come amid ongoing debates in Nigeria over the security arrangements and privileges afforded to public officials, and the gap between perception and the realities of political leadership.

The governor called for greater public understanding of the complexities and pressures of running a state, emphasising that appearances can be deceiving.
