Nigeria’s Senate is set to reconvene for an emergency plenary session on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, following a directive issued by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Clerk of the Senate, Emmanuel Odo, confirmed that all senators have been formally notified to attend the special sitting scheduled for 12:00pm.

While the agenda for the emergency session was not disclosed, the sudden summons has fuelled speculation over pressing national issues requiring urgent legislative attention.

Emergency plenaries are rare and typically called in response to critical developments, underscoring the significance of the meeting.

Lawmakers are expected to deliberate on matters of national importance as the upper chamber reconvenes in Abuja.
