Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for an immediate halt to attacks on Christians in Nigeria, describing the situation as unacceptable and urging swift action to protect vulnerable communities.

In a strongly worded statement released on Tuesday, Mr Netanyahu expressed deep concern over recurring reports of violence targeting Christian populations across parts of the country. He emphasised that freedom of worship is a fundamental human right that must be upheld and protected without compromise.

“Attacks on Christians in Nigeria must end now,” the Israeli leader declared, stressing that no society should tolerate violence against people on the basis of their faith.

Mr Netanyahu also urged Nigerian authorities and international partners to intensify efforts to safeguard religious minorities and bring perpetrators of such attacks to justice. He maintained that global solidarity is essential in confronting acts of intolerance wherever they occur.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s remarks add to a growing chorus of international voices calling for stronger measures to address insecurity and protect civilians amid ongoing tensions in parts of Nigeria.

The Nigerian government has yet to issue a response to Mr Netanyahu’s comments at the time of filing this report.
