The Nigerian Navy says the operation, conducted alongside the Nigerian Army, took place on October 28 and 30 under Operation Hadin Kai.

The Nigerian Navy says its marines have killed 34 Boko Haram fighters during separate offensive operations in the Lake Chad region of north-east Nigeria.

The operations, conducted in collaboration with the Nigerian Army’s 403 Amphibious Brigade, were carried out under Operation Hadin Kai, the military’s ongoing campaign against insurgency in the region.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Naval Information, said the first operation took place on October 28, 2026, while the second was conducted two days later, on October 30.

According to the navy, the operations targeted Boko Haram fighters operating within the Lake Chad area.

The military did not immediately provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the encounters or disclose whether any military personnel were injured during the operations.

Operation Hadin Kai is the Nigerian military’s ongoing counter-insurgency campaign in the north-east, where Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have continued to pose security threats.

The Lake Chad region, which borders Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon, has remained a major theatre of insurgent activity for more than a decade.
