•Prominent APC Leaders Deny Opposition Coalition Rumors Amid Political Speculation
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has categorically dismissed reports linking him to an opposition alliance and suggesting that he had adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as his political platform. In a statement released on Sunday, Mustapha described the circulating reports as “fake news,” stressing that he has not engaged in any discussions with opposition members or their coalition partners.

“My attention has been drawn to a news story in circulation associating me with the opposition alliance and their choice of the ADC as their political party,” Mustapha said. “I want the general public to know that this is fake news. I am not in any opposition alliance, and I am not in any discussion with those who are involved.”
Reaffirming his political roots, Mustapha highlighted his long-standing role in the All Progressives Congress (APC), recalling his position as Deputy National Chairman of the now-defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) before the merger that birthed the APC. His statement served to reinforce his unwavering loyalty to the ruling party and its agenda.

Kayode Fayemi Reaffirms APC Loyalty, Denies Founding ADC Coalition
Similarly, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has refuted claims linking him to the African Democratic Congress coalition and reaffirmed his allegiance to the APC. Responding through a statement issued by his media aide, Ahmad Sajoh, Fayemi dismissed a viral claim attributed to former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, which alleged that the two had founded the ADC coalition before expanding it to include others.
“Despite efforts to verify this statement, which has gained traction on social and digital media, we have found no credible evidence to support it,” Sajoh said. “No video of Hon. Amaechi making these claims or reports from reputable media organisations has been located.”

The statement further emphasized Fayemi’s public endorsement of His Excellency Biodun Oyebanji, Governor of Ekiti State, for re-election under the APC banner, underscoring his commitment to the party’s success in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
Fayemi’s spokesperson acknowledged the former governor’s broad network across political, religious, ethnic, and regional lines and noted that while Fayemi frequently participates in national discourse on governance and democracy, these engagements do not signify defection or disloyalty. “If he were to leave the APC, he would make it public and not require a third party to do so,” Sajoh asserted.
The statement also clarified that Fayemi’s perceived low public profile is due to his role as a visiting professor at King’s College London and his work as founder of the Amandla Institute, rather than any political disengagement.
Akinwunmi Ambode Denies ADC Ambitions, Endorses Tinubu’s Re-election
Adding to the chorus of denials, former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has publicly rejected reports linking him to a governorship ambition under the ADC and reaffirmed his steadfast loyalty to the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Ambode described the rumors as “false publications” intended to create distractions within the political landscape. “I wish to publicly reaffirm my absolute and unshakable loyalty to the APC, the party under which I had the privilege of serving Lagos State as governor in 2015, and to President Bola Tinubu, my leader, mentor, and a tireless champion for Nigeria’s progress,” Ambode said.
He praised Tinubu as a “proven achiever and result-oriented leader,” highlighting his administration’s achievements in pension reforms, increased accessibility to student loans, youth empowerment initiatives, and economic growth. Ambode also underscored the administration’s success in eliminating fuel scarcity and implementing improved security policies aimed at enhancing the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
“His focus, determination, and inclusive governance style are restoring hope and delivering tangible results,” Ambode noted. “I am convinced that, given another four years, Nigerians will have even greater reason to celebrate.”
Ambode concluded by urging party members and Nigerians to disregard political distractions and rally behind the APC. “Let it be clear: I stand solidly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress. We will work together to ensure victory in 2027 to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to all Nigerians.”
