Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has dismissed speculations surrounding his recent visit to the State House, Abuja, insisting that the engagement was strictly centred on national governance issues and not party politics or any plan to defect.
Makinde, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said the visit was aimed at discussing matters of national interest, including governance challenges and the need for collaborative efforts across party lines to move the country forward.
According to the governor, leaders at all levels have a responsibility to prioritise Nigeria’s stability, development and unity above partisan considerations, especially at a time when the nation is grappling with economic and security concerns.
He stressed that constructive dialogue between elected officials, regardless of political affiliation, should not be misconstrued as political realignment or personal ambition.
Makinde also reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP, noting that his political principles remain unchanged and that his focus remains on delivering good governance to the people of Oyo State.
The governor urged the public to avoid reading political meanings into routine engagements that are meant to strengthen governance and promote national cohesion.
