The father of the prime suspect in the killing of seven members of a family in the Dorayi Chiranchi area of Kano metropolis has publicly called on authorities to ensure that justice is served without delay.
Malam Auwal, whose son, Umar Auwal, is the prime suspect in the case, made the appeal while reacting to the incident that has shocked residents of the area and sparked widespread outrage across Kano State. He said he was devastated by the alleged actions of his son and urged law enforcement agencies to apply the full weight of the law if the suspect is found culpable.
“I am deeply pained by what has happened. If my son committed this act, he should be punished according to the law. There should be no delay or special treatment,” Malam Auwal was quoted as saying.
Security operatives had earlier arrested Umar Auwal in connection with the killing of seven members of a family in the densely populated Dorayi Chiranchi neighbourhood. The incident has heightened concerns about violent crime and public safety within the Kano metropolis.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with the suspect currently in custody as detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and any possible accomplices. The Kano State Police Command has assured the public of a thorough and transparent investigation.
Community leaders and residents have called for calm, while urging the authorities to ensure justice for the victims and their families. The tragic incident has continued to dominate public discourse, with many describing it as one of the most disturbing cases recorded in the area in recent times.
