The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has officially appointed Mr. Emmanuel Odo as the Acting Clerk of the Senate, a move that marks a significant shift in the administrative framework of Nigeria’s legislative body.
The appointment, confirmed on Tuesday, 16th September 2025, during the Commission’s 10th meeting, is effective immediately. Dr. Saviour Enyiekere, the Executive Chairman of NASC, personally signed the appointment letter, which highlighted the Commission’s decision to elevate Odo in recognition of his dedication, competence, and administrative acumen.
In the letter, Dr. Enyiekere wrote, “I write to inform you that the 6th Commission at its 10th meeting held on Tuesday, 16th September 2025, approved your appointment as Acting Clerk, Senate in the National Assembly, effective from 16/09/2025. This is in exercise of its powers as provided in Section 6(b) of the National Assembly Service Act, 2014.”

Odo, who has previously served as the Deputy Clerk of the Senate (Administration), is now tasked with leading the Senate’s administrative operations. His appointment has been hailed as a reflection of his outstanding contributions to the Senate’s smooth functioning and his ability to uphold the integrity of the National Assembly.
Dr. Enyiekere, in his message, urged Odo to continue his efforts and work diligently to maintain the trust and expectations vested in him.
