The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Abubakar Musa, over the alleged desecration of the Holy Qur’an in Zuru Local Government Area of the state.
Musa, a resident of Rafin Mose Village in Zuru, was arrested following allegations bordering on criminal conspiracy, abuse of religious books, the use of spells and hypnosis, as well as incitement of public disturbance.
The police said the suspect was taken into custody in connection with an incident involving the alleged ritual desecration of the Qur’an.
Authorities said investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether other individuals were involved.
The command urged residents to remain calm and avoid actions capable of escalating tensions, while assuring the public that appropriate legal steps would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
The case is expected to be subjected to further investigation before any decision is made on prosecution.
