The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a medical doctor in Kwara State for allegedly supplying drugs and medical support to a notorious kidnap syndicate operating in parts of the state.
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been officially disclosed, was reportedly apprehended following weeks of intelligence-led surveillance carried out by DSS operatives. According to security sources, the doctor is believed to have provided pharmaceutical supplies and treatment to injured members of the gang, enabling them to sustain their criminal activities.
Preliminary findings indicate that the medical practitioner may have been collaborating with the kidnappers for an extended period, offering them access to controlled medicines and other medical resources critical to their operations.
The arrest is said to be part of a broader crackdown on kidnapping networks in Kwara, particularly in isolated communities where bandits have been known to seek medical attention from compromised professionals.
Security officials have confirmed that the suspect is currently in DSS custody and undergoing interrogation. Further details are expected as investigations progress.
The development has sparked concern among residents, with many calling for stricter oversight of medical practitioners and enhanced intelligence operations to dismantle criminal networks across the state.
