President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s military leadership has been effectively neutralised as part of a sweeping United States-led offensive, asserting that “the entire military command is gone” and that thousands of Iranian fighters are reportedly seeking to surrender in exchange for immunity. 
In a video address posted on social media on Sunday, Trump described the campaign against Iran as one of the largest and most complex military operations the world has ever seen, and said that many elements of Iran’s armed forces are calling to lay down their weapons to save their lives. 
A Bold Claim Amid Heavy Strikes
The remarks come amid a dramatic escalation of hostilities following coordinated air and naval strikes by the United States and Israel against Iranian targets, including facilities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. US Central Command confirmed ongoing operations, reporting that three American service members have been killed and several others wounded as fighting intensifies. 
Trump framed the offensive — dubbed Operation Epic Fury by some analysts — as essential to preventing Tehran from developing long-range missiles or nuclear capabilities that Washington claims would threaten global security. 
Ultimatum to Iranian Forces
In his address, the US president urged members of Iran’s military, including the Revolutionary Guard, to surrender immediately in return for full immunity. He warned that those who refuse face “certain death”. Trump also appealed directly to the Iranian people, encouraging them to seize the moment and push for political change. 
However, independent verification of Trump’s assertion that Iran’s entire military leadership has been wiped out — or that thousands are actively seeking surrender — remains unclear. Tehran has not confirmed these claims, and its military continues to report counter-strikes against American and allied forces in the region. 
Regional Impact and International Response
As the conflict rages, neighbouring states have reported air defence engagements, including a large interception of missiles and drones by the Bahrain Defence Force. 
Meanwhile, allied nations such as the United Kingdom are reportedly facilitating operations by granting access to bases, heightening concerns over a broader regional flare-up. 
Global diplomatic reactions are mixed, with some governments calling for immediate de-escalation, while others have expressed support for efforts to curb perceived threats posed by Iran’s military apparatus.
