Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced a comprehensive verification exercise across the Delta State Civil Service as part of an ongoing investigation aimed at identifying ghost workers and strengthening the integrity of the state’s payroll system.
The exercise, which began on Monday, saw the screening of the Delta State Head of Service, Dr Mininim Oseji, alongside officials from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The verification process is expected to scrutinise personnel records and confirm the authenticity of employees on the government payroll in a bid to eliminate fraudulent salary payments and improve transparency in the management of public funds.
The development forms part of broader efforts by the anti-graft agency to enhance accountability in the public sector and ensure that government resources are allocated to legitimate workers.
