Iran has issued a blunt warning to European nations to avoid becoming embroiled in the widening conflict in the Middle East, as an intense military confrontation between Tehran and a U.S.–Israeli coalition continues to escalate, heightening fears of a broader regional war with global repercussions. 
Tehran’s message — framed as a plea to keep European states out of direct military involvement — comes against the backdrop of months of rising tensions that erupted into open conflict after a series of U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory, including the killing of Iran’s supreme leader. The strikes triggered retaliatory missile and drone attacks by Iranian forces on multiple countries and overseas military bases. 
In capitals from Paris to Berlin, European leaders have stressed that their forces were not part of the initial offensive against Iran and have urged diplomatic efforts to contain the crisis. The European Union’s 27 member states have jointly called for “maximum restraint” and a strict adherence to international law, warning that further escalation could have unpredictable political, economic and security consequences for Europe and beyond. 
Despite public statements of non-participation in offensive operations, several European nations — including the United Kingdom, France and Germany — have pledged defensive support for allied forces, allowing the use of military bases and preparing measures to protect their interests and nationals amid attacks on strategic sites. 
Iran’s warning to Europe underscores Tehran’s concern that any deeper involvement by Western powers could dramatically widen the conflict and draw NATO countries directly into hostilities. Analysts say the appeal also aims to exploit divisions within the EU, where responses range from firm condemnation of Iranian strikes to calls for urgent diplomacy and sanctions rather than military engagement. 
The crisis has already affected global oil markets, security cooperation frameworks and regional alliances, with Gulf Arab states condemning Iranian attacks on their territories and Europe scrambling to evacuate citizens and bolster protection around key bases. 
As negotiations in international forums continue and emergency diplomatic channels remain active, the warning from Tehran serves as a stark reminder of the fragile state of peace in a region long defined by geopolitical rivalries and competing security interests.
