Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the National Leader of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), has slammed President Bola Tinubu’s administration over its perceived inability to tackle Nigeria’s worsening security crisis, warning that the country is “drifting into a dangerous era.”
Speaking during an appearance on *ARISE News*, Baba-Ahmed argued that the surge in kidnappings, community attacks, and violent crimes across the country indicates a total collapse of the government’s ability to protect its citizens.
“President Tinubu has no handle on the escalating violence; every part of Nigeria is now vulnerable to insecurity,” he said.
The PRP leader highlighted the rising frequency of abductions, particularly those involving schoolchildren, as proof of the administration’s failure. He suggested that in other jurisdictions, the current level of instability would have dire political consequences for the leadership.
“In a civilized democracy, President Tinubu’s record on insecurity would have cost him his seat a long time ago,” Baba-Ahmed remarked.
He further accused the President’s inner circle of downplaying the severity of the crisis rather than confronting it. He warned that without a radical change in strategy, the security situation could deteriorate further before the next election cycle.
“We are in trouble. We haven’t been safe under him, and we are likely to be even more exposed to criminality between now and the elections,” he added.
Defending the PRP’s recent call for the President to step aside, Baba-Ahmed maintained that the position was driven by national interest rather than partisanship. He urged the Federal Government to treat the security situation as a national emergency, noting that public patience is wearing thin.
“Nigerians are becoming increasingly impatient with explanations that do not translate into visible improvements in their safety and well-being,” he concluded.
