Seyi Makinde has restricted the operation of commercial motorcycle taxis, popularly known as okada, across Oyo State between 10:30pm and 5:30am, in a move aimed at tightening security and reducing night-time criminal activity.

The directive, announced on Thursday, prohibits okada riders from operating during the specified hours anywhere within the state.

Authorities say the measure is part of broader efforts to curb rising concerns over the use of motorcycles in robberies, kidnappings, and other security breaches often reported at night.

The government has yet to outline penalties for violations, but enforcement is expected to involve security agencies across major urban and rural routes in the state.
