The newly appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Yilwatda Nentawe, has pledged to strengthen unity within the ruling party and push a nationwide expansion agenda.

“I pledge without hesitation that I will work with everybody in the party. I will expand the party with you,” he said during his acceptance speech at the 14th APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja on Thursday.

His emergence followed the formal zoning of the party chairmanship position to the North Central region  a motion moved by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, and seconded by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

Nentawe, who hails from Plateau State, contested the 2023 governorship election under the APC. With his latest appointment, he becomes the face of the party’s next phase as President Bola Tinubu’s administration enters its second year in office.

The NEC meeting, which drew key party stakeholders including President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, focused on retooling the party’s internal structure ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
