Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation, has denied accusations that he ever claimed President Bola Tinubu was responsible for the killing of Funso Williams, a former Lagos governorship aspirant.
In a statement posted on X and Facebook on Thursday, Fani-Kayode accused Omoyele Sowore, publisher of SaharaReporters, of referencing remarks allegedly made by him about Tinubu 11 years ago to justify Sowore’s defense in a current defamation suit.
“I do not believe in violence and I do not threaten people, neither do any of my boys or those behind me,” Fani-Kayode asserted.
He further warned Tinubu against provoking him, saying, “I cannot be killed like a chicken. I cannot be destroyed. I cannot be taken before my time. My name is Femi Fani-Kayode, and nobody can kill me before my time. Nobody can cut me short.”
“I harbor no fear of violence but do not take threats lightly. I do not fear for my life because I have never shed innocent blood and do not believe in violence or worship the devil. The angel of the Lord will strike dead anyone who seeks to take my life or the life of my loved ones,” he added.
President Tinubu had earlier labelled Fani-Kayode as deranged, while APC’s National Publicity Secretary Lai Mohammed accused him of relapse linked to substance abuse.
Fani-Kayode responded sharply, saying, “It is not Femi Fani-Kayode but rather Bola Tinubu who slurs when he speaks. It is not me but Tinubu who needs 20 pills before he can go out. It is not me but Tinubu whose hands shake when he tries to lift his fork and knife to eat.”
He also targeted Lai Mohammed, describing the APC spokesman as “rotting from inside” and ridiculed his condition, saying, “Lai’s breath is so bad it could knock out a polar bear from across the street… he suffers from loose bowel movements and often has to wear pampers on long journeys.”
The exchange reflects the intensifying verbal sparring between prominent figures within Nigeria’s political landscape as the 2027 elections approach.
