Nigerian influencer and self-proclaimed finance coach GehGeh has responded fiercely to fellow TikTok star Peller following criticisms over his recent purchase of a luxury Mercedes-Benz. Peller claimed GehGeh bought the car with money from his fans, particularly students at his “University of Wisdom,” provoking a strong rebuttal from GehGeh, who dramatised his response with a juju display video.

The controversy began when GehGeh shared images of his new Mercedes-Benz, triggering Peller to question publicly if the students who gifted GehGeh “lions” (large monetary gifts during live streams) had cars themselves. Peller’s remarks implied that the wealth behind GehGeh’s purchase might not be entirely from his financial coaching business but rather from fan donations.

Taking to social media, GehGeh was visibly upset, accusing Peller of diminishing his achievements despite help he personally extended towards him in the past. “I’m giving Peller 24 hours to apologise to me,” GehGeh declared in his video while showcasing what appeared to be juju, a symbolic form of spiritual retaliation. Fans have since engaged enthusiastically, with mixed reactions ranging from defending GehGeh’s success as a testament to hard work to acknowledging the sharp content rivalry between the two influencers.

The incident has reignited debates about the legitimacy and source of wealth among social media personalities in Nigeria. GehGeh, known for his financial advice and bold opinions, recently fuelled further discussions by comparing Nigerian music artists Mr Eazi, Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid in a separate heated conversation online.

GehGeh’s online presence continues to attract wide attention, with recent TikTok livestreams drawing massive audiences and significant monetary gifts. Meanwhile, Peller remains vocal, challenging the credibility and means of GehGeh’s acquisitions amidst the spectacle of public gifting culture on social media.
