The sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, has died weeks after a tragic accident led to the amputation of her leg.
Ruth Otabor passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, the family confirmed in a statement released by their representatives, Eko Solicitors & Advocates.
“With a heavy heart, the family regrets to announce the passing on to glory of their daughter, sister, and mother on this 31st Day of August, 2025,” the statement read.
The tragic passing comes after a horrific incident on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, when Otabor was struck by a heavy-duty truck near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State. Eyewitnesses reported the vehicle, linked to Dangote Group, crushed her leg, leading to its eventual amputation. The accident occurred just six days after she had graduated from the polytechnic.
The family is currently grieving and has requested privacy to mourn their loss, adding that funeral arrangements would be communicated to the public in due course.
