A new wave of terror swept through Kogi State on Tuesday as armed attackers launched a coordinated assault on a rural community, abducting several residents and leaving the area in panic.

Local sources confirmed that the assailants stormed the community in the early hours, firing sporadically before forcing multiple people into waiting vehicles. Exact numbers of those taken remain unclear, as families are still accounting for missing relatives.

Security agencies have been deployed to the area, with the Kogi State Police Command saying it has intensified search-and-rescue operations.

“We are working with other security formations to track the perpetrators and ensure the safe return of those abducted,” a senior police officer said, adding that further updates would be provided as the situation unfolds.

Residents have appealed for urgent intervention from both state and federal authorities, warning that recurring attacks are heightening fear and disrupting daily life.

The state government has yet to issue an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.
