The Federal Government is set to release the outstanding five months of the N35,000 wage award arrears to federal civil servants, according to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).
In a statement issued today in Abuja, the OAGF clarified that while five months of the wage award had been previously disbursed in installments, the remaining arrears would be paid in monthly tranches of N35,000 over the next five months.
The OAGF specified that the initial installment of these outstanding arrears would be processed immediately following the payment of the April 2025 salaries.
This announcement comes shortly after the Federal Workers Forum (FWF) initiated an indefinite nationwide protest demanding the immediate payment of these outstanding dues. The FWF, in a statement signed by National Coordinator Comrade Andrew Emelieze and Secretary General Comrade Itoro Obong, stated that the protest commenced after the expiration of a 21-day ultimatum given to the government. The forum reported peaceful and successful demonstrations across federal secretariats nationwide, despite the presence of security personnel.
The OAGF has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to fully implementing all policies and agreements related to staff compensation and welfare, aiming to enhance productivity and efficiency within the civil service.
