Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved road infrastructure projects valued at more than ₦3.94 trillion, marking one of the country’s largest investments in transport infrastructure in recent years.
The approvals cover 23 road projects across Adamawa, Taraba, Ebonyi, Kwara, Cross River, Kogi, Lagos, Niger, Oyo and Plateau states, with a combined value of ₦2.078 trillion.
The council also approved a 409-kilometre dual carriageway in Niger State, valued at ₦1.8325 trillion. The project, to be executed by the Dangote Group under the Federal Government’s tax credit scheme, will be constructed using reinforced concrete.
Other approvals include a ₦15 billion augmentation for the 32.2-kilometre Gashua road project in Yobe State, as well as ₦15.246 billion for an additional 20-kilometre section of the second phase of the Yola–Fufore–Gurin Road in Adamawa State.
The FEC further approved the operation and maintenance concession of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, alongside the reconstruction of the failed Ibadan approach using reinforced concrete.
The approvals form part of the Federal Government’s broader strategy to improve road connectivity, enhance regional trade and address long-standing infrastructure deficits across the country.
