Ekiti State’s former governor, Kayode Fayemi, has firmly dismissed social media claims that he co-founded a new African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition with ex-Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi. In a sharp rebuttal issued Sunday by his Media Office in Abuja, signed by Ahmad Sajoh, Fayemi branded the allegations baseless, citing no credible evidence—video, audio, or reputable media—supporting Amaechi’s alleged claims.
Sajoh warned of “malicious” fabrications targeting public figures, suggesting the statement may be distorted or entirely false. He reaffirmed Fayemi’s unwavering commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), highlighting his active role in Ekiti’s party leadership and public endorsement of Governor Biodun Oyebanji for re-election.
Despite a lower national profile since leaving office in 2022, Fayemi remains engaged locally, attending APC caucus meetings while balancing roles as a visiting professor at King’s College London and founder of the Amandla Institute. Sajoh stressed that any future decision to leave the APC would be announced directly by Fayemi, not through third parties.
The ADC has recently drawn attention from political heavyweights like Atiku Abubakar and Nasir El-Rufai, but Fayemi’s camp insists he’s steadfastly APC. The public is urged to treat unverified social media claims with caution.
